Safety tips

Verification helps. Extra caution still matters.

Read all tips

Do not pay the full amount upfront

For goods, repairs and property, use staged payments or pay on delivery where possible.

Meet in a public place

For first-time sellers, meet at a mall, park or busy shop — not a private residence.

Confirm the phone number independently

Search the number on TrustVerify and compare it with the seller’s social pages and receipts.

Inspect property yourself

Never send inspection or agency fees to an agent you have not met.

Ask for a receipt

A genuine business should issue a receipt or transfer confirmation in the business name.

Beware of urgency and secrecy

Scammers often insist you pay immediately and tell you not to tell anyone.

Register your business

Genuine businesses can build credibility with a public profile, reviews and optional verification.

FAQ

Straight answers about badges, scores and guarantees.

What is TrustVerify?

TrustVerify is a Nigerian platform that helps people check businesses, online vendors, service providers and property agents before they pay. Genuine businesses can also register to build public credibility.

How does business verification work?

A business submits identity, contact and registration details plus supporting documents. If the review passes, the profile receives a Verified badge and a verification date.

Can I report a business?

Yes. Signed-in customers can submit a complaint. Serious accusations are moderated before they appear publicly. A complaint is not a finding of fraud.

Does a verified badge guarantee a business is safe?

No. A verified badge means identity information was reviewed at the time of verification. It is not a guarantee that a future transaction is risk-free.

How is the Trust Score calculated?

The score is an indicator from 0–100 based on verification status, ratings, complaint volume and resolution, business age, profile completeness and documents. It is not a guarantee.

Can businesses respond to reviews?

Yes. Registered businesses can reply to reviews and complaints from their dashboard.

How can I register my business?

Use Register Your Business, complete the form and upload supporting documents. After submission the status is Verification Pending.

Does TrustVerify guarantee that I will not be scammed?

No. TrustVerify helps you make a more informed decision. Always take extra precautions before sending money.
